Business & Operations Administrator: Under the supervision of the Municipal Light Plant (“MLP”) Assistant Director, the Business and Operations Administrator (“Administrator”) is responsible for administering the MLP’s financial/accounting, customer service, field/line safety, and building functions and operations. This position also administers the enrollment of new customers for MLP’s commercial internet program and manages MLP’s social media accounts. The Administrator is expected to work and communicate effectively with MLP staff and customers to ensure that its business and field operations are well supported, efficient, and responsive.
The Business & Operations Administrator key responsibilities include but not limited to administering the MLP’s accounts payable function as well as timekeeping, payroll and business expense functions. This position is responsible for tracking and recording open bid procurements and tracking receipt, deployment and/or disposition of certain key MLP assets. The incumbent will be responsible for the support of certain Customer Service and billing functions as well as managing and updating the MLP’s social media accounts. This position is also responsible for the administering of the building operation of the MLP, including custodial services, office equipment and supplies, document retention and destruction.
Requirements of the position: Experience successfully administering the business and/or field operations of an enterprise or organization. Attentive to detail and takes great care in his or her work. Can be trusted to maintain and safekeep confidential business and customer information. Carries out tasks and enters and processes information accurately and independently. Handles, prioritizes, and completes the workload including new or multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner. Continuously looks for and implements ways to improve, streamline, and simplify business processes and communications. Strong oral and written communication skills. Solid organization skills and professionalism, commitment, and sound judgement particularly when interacting with customers. Basic level of proficiency in Microsoft® Word and PowerPoint, and higher level of proficiency in Microsoft® Excel and other spreadsheet/database software. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred qualifications: An associate or bachelor’s degree in business or operations management or related field. Experience working in the public or municipal utility or service industry.
