Job Description
Job Summary
Act as the first point of contact between students, faculty, staff and the Campus Safety Department. Must engage in a professional, friendly manner when dealing with people on the phone and in person. Work in a security and dispatch role by conducting foot patrols or answering the telephone in the dispatch center. Participate in community engagement activities while developing professional relationships with the campus by utilizing the community policing approach.
Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
This is a part-time, non-benefitted position working an estimated 16-24 hours per week. Shifts for this position will primarily be 3-11 pm.
Anticipated pay for this position is $20-$23/hour
Essential Functions
Answer incoming phone lines and provide appropriate assistance to those calls
Monitor cameras, fire panels and other security systems and dispatch appropriate personnel when necessary
Promptly answer emergency phone lines
Accurately log all department calls for service, officer activity, and assistance provided into the department’s computer system
Make notifications to College officials and other agencies during emergency and non-emergency situations
Maintain certification on the use of any State or Federal Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS)
Engage in foot, bicycle or vehicle patrol to maintain high visibility to the campus community
Check and secure campus buildings to help prevent crimes from occurring
Provide escorts and lockouts for members of the College community
Provide non-emergency medical transports via College vehicle to the local hospital
Support and uphold the department’s mission and community-poling philosophy
Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
Minimum of a High School diploma
Previous dispatching or security experienced is preferable
Must have a valid driver’s license. Must complete and comply with all college driving credentialing requirements.
Must hold or be able to obtain shortly after hire CPR and First Responder Certification.
Must be able to pass a criminal and work background check, medical pre-screening and psychological assessment

Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment.
Ability to function calmly & efficiently in all types of situations including emergencies.
