As a Contract Analyst for our Enterprise Vendor Management and Contracting team, you will be responsible for developing, analyzing, modifying and maintaining contractual agreements with vendors providing goods and services for Premera Blue Cross.
Our vendors help us achieve our strategic objectives and your role is pivotal in insuring that we are aligned with vendors who share the same passion for our customers as we do.
The individual in this role negotiates commodity, professional and technical services and other contracts on behalf of internal customers, while promoting legal, ethical and fair business dealings with external vendors. You will be at the forefront of innovation and work to achieve the best terms, conditions and pricing which helps Premera to stay competitive in the market.
This position is open to filling as either a Contract Analyst or Senior Contract Analyst.
What you will do:
- Negotiate complex vendor agreements to obtain the most favorable business outcome.
- Review vendor contracts to ensure compliance with Premera policies, terms, and conditions.
- Coordinate the review of business and legal terms of vendor contracts with various departments throughout the company.
- Support the RFP/RFI process to meet customers' business requirements.
- Monitor vendor performance to contract terms and mediate disputes regarding contract and service level issues.
- Represent Vendor Management and Contracting as subject matter expert on cross-departmental projects.
- Maintain the database of contracts for internal control, reporting, and customer service purposes.
- Partner with Procurement and Accounts Payable to ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors and vendor compliance with financial terms and corporate practices.
- Coach internal customers on, contracting, and negotiation policies and procedures.
- Seek opportunities for process improvement and take a lead role in implementations.
What you’ll bring:
Contract Analyst Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of similar experience
- Six (6) years’ experience in contracting and negotiations
Senior Contract Analyst Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Seven (7) years' experience in contracting and negotiating terms and conditions for complex, high dollar projects.
Seeking candidates who possess the following preferred knowledge, skills, abilities
- Ability to draft and revise complex contract language and terms
- Ability to provide timely interpretation of vendor proposals and contract language for consideration and acceptance
- Ability to manage and update data in contracts database
- Advanced knowledge of vendor management, contracting and negotiation strategies
- Advanced analytical and research skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple complex negotiations simultaneously
- Proficiency with contract management tools
- Understanding of the routing and approval process for contracts
- Experience with DocuSign and PeopleSoft would be a plus
- Experience with financial concepts and general ledger systems

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Salary Range:
$78,000.00 - $101,000.00National Plus Salary Range:
$78,000.00 - $115,100.00*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
