Berklee College of Music is the world’s leading institution for contemporary music and the performing arts. The Digital Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing the paid social media plans that help generate, nurture, and yield applicants for the programs offered at Berklee College of Music, Berklee Summer Programs, Berklee NYC, Berklee Valencia, and other areas as needed.

While the Digital Marketing Manager’s primary responsibility will be overseeing paid social media efforts, they will also be expected to have a working knowledge of the overall digital marketing landscape. This includes utilizing content marketing as a means of lead generation and using social media best practices and industry trends to tastefully insert Berklee into relevant conversations to increase brand awareness and conversions. The candidate must also be comfortable compiling and interpreting marketing data while providing digestible reports that include core insights and actionable recommendations.

This person will work closely with the enrollment marketing team, including marketing managers, analysts, and creative staff, and with organic social media managers across the institution. This is a highly collaborative role, and the ability to work well across all areas of the department and the institution is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Paid Social Media Strategy & Execution: Develop, implement, and measure paid social media campaigns across platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, and others.

  • Paid Social Media Best Practices: Co-lead the Paid Media Marketing governance group. Spearhead updates to the Paid Media Creative Specs Guide to align with industry standards and platform updates.

  • Platform Oversight: Build and maintain strong relationships with social media platform representatives to ensure campaign success and compliance with platform guidelines.

  • Budget & Spend Optimization: Monitor and manage social media budgets in digital marketing platforms, ensuring we meet agreed-upon targets.

  • Audience & Targeting Strategy: Work closely with marketing managers to define and refine audience segments, optimize targeting, and adjust content strategy based on performance data.

  • Testing & Deployment: Execute campaign testing initiatives to refine strategies, optimize operations, and improve user experience.

  • Performance Reporting & Analytics: Collaborate with the Associate Director of Marketing and Marketing Analyst to create detailed reports and track marketing attribution, ensuring accurate performance measurement across campaigns.

  • Project Management & Workflow Optimization: Streamline campaign intake workflows and project management through tools like Asana, enhancing campaign execution efficiency.

  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with various Berklee departments to maintain brand consistency and alignment with institutional values across social media channels.

  • Trend Monitoring & Research: Stay current on social media trends, emerging platforms, and competitive marketing efforts to ensure that Berklee’s campaigns remain relevant and innovative.

  • Community Engagement & Moderation: Participate in social media comment moderation, ensuring adherence to Berklee’s community guidelines and ad commenting policies.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in paid social media and/or digital marketing. Experience in music and/or higher education marketing is a plus.

  • Technical Skills: Proven expertise in managing paid social media campaigns using platform-specific ad managers (Facebook Business Manager, TikTok Ads Manager, etc.). Experience with other paid media channels (e.g., search, programmatic) is advantageous.

  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights in a clear, actionable format.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaboration & Independence: Ability to thrive independently and in a collaborative team environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently.

  • Project Management: Proficient in managing projects from concept to execution, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery. Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana) preferred.

  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with contemporary music styles, leading musical figures, and the music industry’s structure and operations.

  • Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of behavioral marketing and lead generation practices.
