Course Description
HMP608: This course provides an overview of financial accounting for students interested in health care management and policy. It is designed to serve the needs of both students who have never had a course in financial accounting (for 2 credits) and students who have had an introductory course in financial accounting but without health care applications (for 1 credit).
Responsibilities*
GSI duties are expected to include class attendance, office hours, meetings and grading. Other appropriately related duties as assigned but not to exceed the 50% appointment fraction. See attached fraction calculation form for specifics.
Required Qualifications*
Current doctoral or masters student at the University of Michigan with appropriate knowledge of public health and familiarity with the content of this course. Preference given to doctoral or masters students performing excellently within the School of Public Health, particularly the department of Health Management & Policy.
Desired Qualifications*
Demonstrated teaching skills and experience. Familiarity with the instructor, this specific course, and the department a plus.

Selection Process
The instructor will select the GSI best suited to this position based on discipline, relevant knowledge about course topics, general knowledge of public health, prior experience with this or other relevant courses in HMP, prior experience as a GSI for graduate courses and knowledge and understanding of the program and department.
