JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Quality and Document Control Specialist
Reports to: QA Manager
Number of Direct Reports: 0
Key Internal Partners: QA Hold/Release Specialist, Technical Services, Operations, EHS, Human Resources
Key External Partners: Third party auditors and vendors
Location: Nampa, ID
Job Summary:
The Quality Specialist is responsible for critical support to the Quality Department in various capacities, including oversight of quality processes (specifically, but not limited to: Statistical Process Control, Weight Control program, and Thermal process monitoring), managing both the Electronic Documentation and SharePoint programs, and assisting with audit preparation.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Oversee various quality processes to ensure Regulatory and 3rd party certification requirements are met.
- Oversee the compliance and verification of weights to NIST 133
- Manage pouch weigh system and SPC process
- Participate in Traceability and mock recall exercises
- Review the thermal process reports daily; identifies, investigates, and escalates issues
- Maintain Quality department procedures and forms, ensuring they are up to date and accurate
- Assist with customer and regulatory audits as needed.
- Assist Quality manager in investigating food safety/quality incidents, Consumer complaints and completing non-compliant reports
- Manage the internal document control and record maintenance.
- Manage Access databases, design forms and queries, generate reports, and utilize data analysis features
- Manage the EDM (Electronic Document Management) system
- Coordinate all document workflows
- Maintain revision history
- Oversees the review of production paperwork and quality department reports
- Trends production data
- Participate in programs to support plant goals and continuous improvement.
- Assist the quality and production departments with quality, 5S, and process improvement projects
- Assist with data entry and statistical trend analysis to drive continuous improvement
- Coordinate daily QA lab activities to promote a successful team.
- Coordinate meetings and follow up on open actions
- Perform GMP and daily line audits
- Perform sampling, swabbing, and product analysis as required to support the QA team
- All other duties as assigned
Key Performance Indicator (KPI):
- Tracks and reports Quality KPIs, including but not limited to:
- Daily sensory completion
- Consumer complaints information
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Associate or Bachelor degree in science or related area is preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years of quality assurance experience
- 2 to 5 years of document control experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Proficient in using SQL and VBA within Access
SKILLS
- Fluent in MS Office Suite. Must possess strong skills in Excel, Word.
- EDM SharePoint training/experience
- Advanced organizational skills and high attention to detail
- General math skills, basic statistics skills, and experience with SPC
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and FDA regulations are strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP system
- Must be able to understand both written and verbal instructions in English.
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and hearing protection.
- Must be able to work in normal office conditions.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day and be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
