Our Company's R&D Division's Ventures Fund is the Cambridge, MA-based corporate venture capital investment group funded by our Company. The Therapeutics-focused Venture Fund resides within our Company's Research Laboratories, the R&D division of our Company., which is creating breakthrough science to radically change the approach to serious diseases. Our team creates and/or invests in seed and early-stage therapeutics companies, based on translatable breakthrough science, with the potential to deliver highly differentiated new medicines to improve human health.

We are seeking a Senior Associate who will support the fund President and Partners in sourcing, comprehensively evaluating, building supportive business cases, and in making recommendations to our Investment Committee for private equity investments in biotechnology companies. S/he will be involved in negotiation, syndication and closing of deals and will also play a role in new company creation. S/he may represent our team on portfolio company boards, commensurate with experience and subject matter expertise.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the ecosystem

• Sourcing and screening early-stage discovery biotech investment opportunities in therapeutics companies

• Conducting/coordinating in-depth scientific and business diligence to support development of an investment thesis

• Assisting with all aspects of venture deal process and post-closing deal management

• Financial analysis and modeling

• Drafting investment recommendations for presentation to our Investment Committee

• Assisting in venture-creation efforts including company conception and construction, team recruiting and deal syndication

• Deep dives into novel therapeutic areas and competitive landscape analyses

• Assisting with other fund administrative or operational activities as required by the fund President

Required Experience and Skills

• MD and/or PhD in a life sciences discipline

• At least 3 years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or ecosystem

• Broad-based scientific knowledge across all therapeutic areas of human health

• Experience in analytical modeling of data

• Understanding of financial concepts and financial markets

Preferred Experience and Background

• 3 years experience in venture capital, venture creation, sell-side business development, drug discovery or pharmaceutical drug development

• Understanding of basic science technologies as applied to drug discovery and development

• Experience in biotech operations and/or company creation

• Experience in financial modeling

• Experience in consulting or corporate development
