The Senior Color, Material, Finish (CMF) Designer role will be responsible for creating high-profile CMF design solutions that delight consumers while aligning brand level initiatives with actionable customer, market, and trend insights.  This role will lead the CMF design for 1 – 2 product categories with dependable cross-functional accountability, expert level presentation, and an eye for details.

Shark Design is a team of Industrial Designers and CMF Designers working on products across the Shark brand – (Specify Brand when posting add)

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE OF CMF  DESIGNER:

  • Own full CMF design workload across multiple categories including mood/concept board
    creation, Keyshot renderings, ID Spec building, cross-functional stewardship, and follow-up.
  • Practice user-centered design approach to translate consumer insights into meaningful product solutions that will delight consumers both on an emotional/experiential and functional level.
  • Conceptualize and visualize concepts through high quality mood boards, product renderings, and presentations.
  • Deliver clean, well-composed product ID Specs to vendors, detailing fit, finishes, color, graphics, etc.
  • Collaborates cross functionally to conceptualize, visualize and create new CMF strategies.
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
  • Maintains quality standards for CMF design throughout the product lifecycle
  • Stays abreast with current and emerging trends, innovations and materials within the industry
  • Solves complex problems by challenging assumptions using creativity and innovatively.
  • Drive innovative approaches through emerging product trends or new technologies.
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards.
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge on full product development cycle with ability to navigate through technical and business constraints for achieving the best possible quality outcomes.
  • Understand SharkNinja's brands and help define the company’s future product development strategies.

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS:

      • BA or BS in Industrial Design or similar discipline
      • MS in Industrial Design or a related field preferred.
      • 3 -5+ years of experience working as a CMF designer, experience within consumer appliances or related industries would be ideal. 
      • Experience with injection molded plastics.
      • Proficiency with 3D rendering program Keyshot required.
      • 2D skills via sketching, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
      • Proficiency with CAD – Solidworks or Rhino encouraged.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
      • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects.
      • Strong detail orientation with ability to work quickly without compromising quality.
      • Proven track record for delivering products through production.
      • Ability to work independently, own the entire development process with minimal supervision or guidance.
      • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and part design.
      • Strong analytical thinking that leads to creative solutions and innovative ideas.
      • A strong original portfolio of creative work that clearly demonstrates a product development process.
      • Strong team player.
      • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with good sound interpersonal skills.
      • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
