Summary:
Produces ultrasonic images and participates in special studies under the clinical direction of a Radiologist. Takes responsibility for image quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. Participates in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations. Participates in the ultrasound on-call rotation.
Responsibilities:
1.Produces Ultrasound images and examinations, abdominal scans and scans of other anatomical areas to include, but not limited to obtain history and/or examination data and evaluates for contraindicating conditions.
2. Reviews pathology reports for correlation with sonograms.
3. Performs water enemas and retrograde filling of bladder for pelvic scans, as needed.
4. Takes and monitors vital signs.
5. Adjusts and controls equipment.
6. Reviews film for clinically acceptable results and releases patients and Prepares room by gathering and setting up equipment, supplies and contrasts; assists physician during invasive procedures.
7. Applies AIUM guidelines and patient protection guidelines. Operates and maintains sonographic equipment, film processors, computers, and other departmental equipment.

Education Requirements:
Associate degree from an accredited school or program of Ultrasonography or Registered Radiologic Technologist with on-the-job training to meet qualifications
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Current registration with ARRT with up-to-date continuing education credits
Professional Experience Requirements:
• 1 Year of Healthcare/Medical - Healthcare - Other Clinical Sonography experience
• Registered in two ultrasound sub-specialties or registered in one ultrasound sub-specialty
• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with up-to-date continuing education credits
