Are you a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) passionate about ensuring the smooth operation of critical backend applications? In this dynamic role, you’ll be the guardian of application stability, using your expertise to troubleshoot, optimize, and champion the reliability of vital systems. Partnering with Aquent, you’ll join a team at a leading financial services firm where your contributions directly impact the availability and performance of essential applications used by millions.
As an SRE, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the health and performance of critical backend applications and APIs. You’ll be on the front lines, investigating and resolving issues reported by customers, ensuring seamless operation and a positive user experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure high availability of critical backend applications and APIs.
- Participate in on-call rotation, responding to and resolving production incidents.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and triage application issues, collaborating with various teams to identify and implement solutions.
- Implement defect fixes and enhancements to improve application stability and performance.
- Contribute to Production Readiness processes, ensuring seamless deployment and support of new features.
- Collaborate during application design to integrate availability requirements from the outset.
- Coordinate application maintenance activities, including OS upgrades and disaster recovery exercises.
- Analyze and resolve application issues in production, minimizing downtime and impact on users.
- Mentor junior team members, sharing your expertise and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Partner with the Team Lead to design and implement process improvements in Production Services and Operations.
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 5-7+ years of experience supporting live backend applications/APIs.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging application issues.
- Strong understanding of application architecture across application, database, and network layers.
- Experience working with messaging bus technologies (e.g., Kafka).
- Ability to read and understand code.
- Experience building application alerts and monitoring.
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools.
- Understanding of networking and routing concepts.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases and application interaction.
- Experience with on-call rotation and incident management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stressful situations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with web technologies (.NET or Java).
- Knowledge of industry trends in web development.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $70.31 to $78.13 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
