The Staff Accountant, under the direction of the Accounting Manager, is responsible for various types of journal entries related to investments, expense accruals, income accruals, prepaids as well as entries to the cash ledger. In addition, this position will prepare assigned monthly balance sheet reconciliations during both the month and yearly closings.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Participate in the month-end close process, reconciling assigned accounts and preparing journal entries.
- Prepare and execute monthly journal entries related to the hospitals investments.
- Properly record various entries monthly to the cash ledger.
- Maintain a schedule of prepaid expenses as well as record the monthly entry
- Identify and record various expense and income accruals
- Occasionally assist with various Accounts Payable duties
- Assist in YE audit process, including the corporation’s annual physical inventory.
- Assist Directors, Managers, and fellow senior team members on various projects or tasks as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or related
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Preferred
- Three (3) years of experience working in an accounting or related business role.
- Previous healthcare experience
- Experience with INFOR and Lease Query valued.
- Previous experience with fixed assets/property accounting
