Skills and Competencies

  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to assess both quantitative and qualitative credit factors within the P&C insurance sector
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. property and casualty insurance, reinsurance, and brokerage markets, including reserving practices, capital models, and enterprise risk management
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and thoughtprovoking credit research and opinions
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, with confidence interacting with senior executives, investors, and internal stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver timely outputs in a dynamic, fastpaced environment
  • Relationship management skills with experience engaging Csuite executives and market participants
  • Leadership capability with a track record of mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • MBA in Finance, CPA, or actuarial designation (ACAS or FCAS) preferred
  • Approximately 8-10 years of relevant credit analysis or financial analysis experience, preferably within the P&C insurance sector

Responsibilities

Lead credit analysis for a portfolio of U.S. P&C insurance entities while producing high-quality research and maintaining strong market relationships.

  • Analyze financial statements and qualitative factors to assess the creditworthiness of assigned insurance, reinsurance, and brokerage companies
  • Prepare and present credit recommendations in rating committees and participate actively in analytical discussions
  • Produce timely, high-quality credit research including issuer reports, sector commentary, and market updates
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue with senior company executives, including Csuite stakeholders, to evaluate strategic direction and risk exposure
  • Engage with investors, intermediaries, and media to communicate credit views and respond to market inquiries
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with issuers and external market participants
  • Collaborate with global analytical teams to ensure consistency and depth of credit analysis
  • Mentor and support the development of junior analysts within the North American P&C insurance team
  • Develop subject matter expertise in key areas such as P&C products, reserving, capital modeling, and enterprise risk management

About the Team

The North American P&C Insurance team is responsible for delivering independent, high-quality credit analysis across insurers, reinsurers, and brokers. The team plays a critical role in shaping market perspectives through rigorous research, issuer engagement, and investor interaction. By joining this team, you will collaborate with experienced analysts across Moody's global network, contributing to impactful research and supporting informed decision-making across financial markets.


For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is$233,700.00-$338,850.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
